Breakdown

My reel starts with a facial rig I completed at Walt Disney Animation Studios during my time in the Talent Development Program. During this experience, I grew in the fundamentals and nitty gritty of what makes Disney’s complex facial rigs sing. It was a pleasure training on such a recognizable character.

Following this is a showcase of some of the rigs I worked on during my time at Ubisoft. I had the privilege of applied my expertise in character rigging to this project. The characters included in my reel are ones which I rigged, added secondary skeleton set up to and integrated into the game engine. Additionally, I reviewed outsourced character rigs and provided draw overs to our international artists. I also had the opportunity to write rigging pipeline tools to increase efficiency on the game. I loved collaborating closely on this project with an array of team members from various departments.

Then, is a sample of some shots from Encanto featuring animals who inherited my quadruped adaptable limb set up. This was an initiative I specked out and pitched to the department. I built an inheritance based limb set up to streamline our animal legs. Characters included in the adaptable limb are the plantigrade, digitigrade and unguligrade animals in Encanto.

Next, is a sample of a handful of my favorite character effects shot I completed as a technical animation artist on the film Strange World. A highlight on this film was working on contact based shots, such as hugging, crossing arms and sitting on chairs. These shots covered the gamut of cloth and hair simulation, shot sculpt/anatomy sculpt fix work and shot finaling. It was excellent contributing to the team on this show.

Then, is a sample of some of my favorite work from my time on Frozen II. I loved working on the range of garments and hairstyles in the film. One of my favorite pieces from my time on Frozen II was this Ice Sculpture which was a key plot point in the film. I simulated the cloth and hair for a windy and dynamic placement. I had to make this sculpture work in the round as it’s featured in multiple shots throughout the movie. It was a pleasure contributing to recognizable characters and developing my eye to the subtleties and nuances needed on this film.

Following this are some rigs I worked on for the short film Going Home. I was entrusted with rigging the mom and dad for this film. These characters were complex in that they had to age. I set up a system for the aging process to allow animation to preview this in their scene. This film meant a lot to me and it was wonderful collaborating closely with the director on this short film.

Last but not least is a sample of shots from my work on the short film No. 2 to Kettering. On this film I had the opportunity to contribute to both rigging and technical animation. I rigged the bus driver, the umbrella man, the man sitting next to the main character on the bench, the newspaper, and the exterior bus. I also did cloth and hair simulations for this film. It was neat having the opportunity to figure out sims to complement the stop motion style of this film.
